Fine needles are precisely inserted into myofascial trigger points to release chronic muscle tension, reduce pain, and restore optimal function — especially effective for sports and overuse injuries.
Specialized kinesiology tape is applied to support muscles and joints, reduce swelling, and facilitate natural movement — enabling you to stay active during recovery without restricting range of motion.
Advanced OMT-qualified joint mobilisation and manipulation techniques targeting the spine and peripheral joints to restore pain-free movement, correct alignment, and improve biomechanical function.
Targeted myofascial release techniques address tightness and restrictions in the connective tissue network — relieving referred pain, restoring mobility, and improving whole-body movement patterns.

Athletes & Active Individuals
Comprehensive assessment and treatment for acute and overuse injuries affecting Sandton's active community.
Hamstring, quadriceps, calf, and groin muscle injuries are among the most common sports presentations. Physiotherapy accelerates healing through targeted soft tissue techniques, progressive loading, and return-to-sport programming.
Ankle, knee, and wrist sprains cause joint instability, swelling, and pain. Graded rehabilitation restores proprioception, joint stability, and full function to safely return you to sport or daily activity.
Tendon overuse injuries respond well to load management, eccentric exercise programs, and manual therapy. Evidence-based treatment reduces pain and restores tendon capacity for long-term performance.
Knee injuries — including ACL sprains, meniscal irritation, runner's knee, and IT band syndrome — require precise assessment to guide safe rehabilitation and prevent re-injury.
Heel and arch pain from plantar fasciitis, and medial tibial stress syndrome (shin splints) in runners, respond well to a combination of load modification, Kinesio taping, stretching, and targeted strengthening.
Spine & Cervical Conditions
Spinal pain is one of the most prevalent complaints in Sandton — our orthopaedic manual therapy approach targets the root cause, not just the symptom.
Acute or chronic lumbar pain affects quality of life profoundly. Physiotherapy combines joint mobilisation, muscle activation, postural correction, and education to deliver lasting relief rather than temporary management.
Sciatic nerve pain radiating from the lower back into the buttock, hamstring, or calf can be debilitating. Accurate diagnosis differentiates true sciatica from piriformis syndrome or referred pain, guiding effective treatment.
Intervertebral disc injuries can compress nearby nerve roots, causing pain, numbness, or weakness. Conservative physiotherapy management is highly effective and often avoids the need for surgical intervention.
Cervical pain and restricted range of motion from postural strain, degeneration, or acute injury respond well to OMT-qualified manual therapy, dry needling, and targeted cervical strengthening.
Headaches originating from the upper cervical spine — and neck injuries following motor vehicle accidents — benefit significantly from manual therapy, joint mobilisation, and postural rehabilitation programs.
Recovery & Restoration
Structured post-operative rehabilitation is critical for optimal surgical outcomes — we guide you through every stage of recovery.
Total knee replacement rehabilitation focuses on reducing swelling, restoring flexion range, rebuilding quadriceps strength, and progressing gait to achieve independent, pain-free movement as quickly as safely possible.
Post-THR physiotherapy restores functional independence, normalises gait patterns, and progressively strengthens hip musculature — working within surgeon-specified precautions at every stage.
A structured, criteria-based ACL rehab program progresses from swelling control and early quadriceps activation through to neuromuscular retraining, strength benchmarks, and a safe return-to-sport protocol.
Staged shoulder rehabilitation following rotator cuff repair protects the surgical repair while progressively restoring range of motion, rotator cuff strength, and overhead functional capacity.
Post-discectomy, laminectomy, or spinal fusion rehabilitation prioritises safe mobilisation, core stability retraining, and the gradual restoration of full functional capacity under careful physiotherapy guidance.
Corporate & Occupational Health
Sandton's corporate workforce is prone to desk-related and occupational injuries — we offer specialist assessment, treatment, and ergonomic guidance to keep you working at your best.
Repetitive occupational tasks — typing, mouse use, or assembly work — can cause chronic overuse injuries in the wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder. Early physiotherapy intervention prevents progression to chronic debilitating pain.
Median nerve compression causing hand numbness, tingling, and wrist pain is highly treatable with physiotherapy, nerve mobilisation techniques, splinting advice, and workstation ergonomic modification.
Chronic neck and upper trapezius tension from prolonged screen work and forward-head posture is addressed through manual therapy, dry needling, postural correction, and a targeted home exercise program.
Prolonged sitting weakens core stabilisers and tightens hip flexors, contributing to lumbar strain and pain. We address the mechanical cause and provide an effective corrective exercise program for the desk worker.
Lateral and medial epicondylitis are common in both office workers and athletes. Physio treatment includes load management, eccentric strengthening, fascial release, and Kinesio taping for pain relief and tendon recovery.
Long-Term Pain Management
Persistent pain requires a holistic, patient-centred approach — combining manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, and education to break the pain cycle and improve quality of life.
Long-standing lumbar pain is addressed through a combination of targeted manual therapy, Pilates-informed core rehabilitation, pain neuroscience education, and gradual functional loading to restore confidence and movement.
Exercise therapy is the most effective long-term treatment for osteoarthritis. We design progressive, well-tolerated programs to reduce joint pain, improve mobility, and delay or avoid surgical intervention.
Persistent cervical pain — often linked to degenerative changes, lifestyle factors, or sustained postures — is managed with manual therapy, dry needling, deep neck flexor strengthening, and lifestyle modification guidance.
Widespread musculoskeletal pain with fatigue and sleep disturbance is managed through graded aerobic exercise, gentle manual therapy, and comprehensive pain education to reduce sensitisation and improve daily function.
Recurrent tension-type headaches arising from cervical dysfunction and muscle tension are highly responsive to manual therapy, trigger point dry needling, and postural correction — significantly reducing frequency and severity.

Everything you need to know before your first visit — so you can book with confidence.
Physiotherapy is an evidence-based healthcare practice that assesses, diagnoses, and treats a wide range of physical conditions — from acute sports injuries and post-surgical recovery to chronic pain, musculoskeletal problems, and orthopedic conditions. At Sandton Physiotherapist, treatment is individualized and hands-on, combining manual therapy, dry needling, fascial release, Kinesio taping, and Pilates-informed rehabilitation with patient education — so you understand your condition and how to manage it long-term.
No referral is required to book directly with us — physiotherapists are primary healthcare practitioners and you can self-refer at any time. However, if you intend to claim from your medical aid, some schemes do require a GP referral letter before they will authorise or reimburse physiotherapy costs. We recommend checking your specific plan's requirements before your appointment. We're happy to advise if you're unsure.
Yes, we do accommodate medical aid patients. Our rates differ from private rates to account for medical aid fee structures. For an initial appointment (45 minutes), the medical aid rate is R880 compared to the private rate of R950. For follow-up appointments, the medical aid rate is R750 versus the private rate of R900. Payment is required at the time of your appointment, and we will provide you with an invoice to submit to your medical aid for reimbursement directly to you.
Dry needling is a technique used to treat muscular pain and dysfunction by inserting fine, sterile needles directly into myofascial trigger points — tight knots within muscle tissue that refer pain to other areas. Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine meridians, dry needling is grounded in Western anatomy and neuroscience. Most patients experience a brief, localised muscle twitch or aching sensation during the treatment, which is normal and typically means the technique is working. Post-treatment soreness is common for 24–48 hours, similar to a deep-tissue workout. Priya is certified in dry needling and will discuss whether it's appropriate for your condition.
OMT, or Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, is an advanced, internationally recognised post-graduate qualification in hands-on physiotherapy. It involves highly specialised assessment and treatment of joints and soft tissues through precise manual techniques such as joint mobilisation, manipulation, and specific therapeutic exercises. Francesca holds an OMT qualification — a post-graduate credential that reflects advanced clinical reasoning and manual therapy expertise beyond a standard physiotherapy degree. This means you're receiving care at an elevated standard of musculoskeletal diagnosis and treatment.
Yes, we offer professional 60-minute home visit sessions at R1,300 — ideal if you have reduced mobility, are recovering post-surgery, or are arranging care for a family member. Home visits bring the same clinical standard of assessment and treatment to your door. To book any appointment — in-clinic or home visit — you can use our online booking system, or contact us directly to arrange a time that suits you. Availability is subject to scheduling, so we recommend booking in advance.
